Please read, re: Hong Kong WTO ministerial media convergence / activity. This will likely be a quite important moment for strengthening links between emerging Asian regional media activist networks and others. sasha -------- Original Message -------- Subject: HONGKONG New media and social transformation: conference and workshop Date: Wed, 21 Sep 2005 15:04:13 -0500 From: Rodriguez, Clemencia <clemencia@ou.edu> Reply-To: Rodriguez, Clemencia <clemencia@ou.edu> To: OURMEDIA-L@lists.ou.edu English below. *** English: New media and social transformation: conference and workshop Conference Date: 9-10, December, 2005 Workshop: December 3-4 and December 16-17 Venue: To be confirmed Hosting organization: Hong Kong In-Media and Master of Cultural Studies, Lingnan University Partnership-network organizations: Pots magazine, Coolloud net, Hong Kong people!)!)s radio, Chamsaesang (final list yet to be confirmed). Introduction December 2005 will be a month for both governmental and non-governmental gathering in Hong Kong. We expect many independent media will gather in Hong Kong to report on the WTO ministerial meeting, as well as the anti-WTO NGO forum and demonstration. Independent media in Hong Kong has started to flourish in the past few years, after the July 1 demonstration in year 2002; educators also start to explore new media as a mean for civic education or critical pedagogy. We would like to seize this international occasion to organize a series of discussion for independent media groups from all over the world to share their experience in _______________________________________________ nettime-ann mailing list nettime-ann@nettime.org http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-ann
