Art from Central Asia February 25 - April 17, 2006=20 Opening: February 24 / 2006, 6 p.m. Location: Alee Ujazdowskie 6, 00-461 Warsaw organization: Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle The exhibition Art from Central Asia prepared by the widely recognize= d art critic from Moscow - Wiktora Misiano - was acknowledged as a one of t= he most interesting events of the 51st Venice Biennial in 2005. There for t= he first time art from three former Soviet Union republics was presented in= the Central Asia Pavilion. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan are among pe= rhaps the last countries absent from the world wide artistic scene. Art mad= e in those countries is very original also in the aspect of the ethnic prob= lems especially those connected with identity - personal and national. Expl= oration of the identity is made through mythical and poetical narration usi= ng photography and video. Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw is the firs= t to present this unique exhibition immediately after the Venice. The exhib= ition was made in co-operation with Kurama Gallery from Biskhek, Adam Micki= ewicz Institute and Austrian Cultural Forum. Participants.
