Interactive Film Lab @ Synch Festival, Athens
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 July 2006
Around the upcoming Synch Festival, Athens will be swarming with
audiovisual thrill seekers. The perfect event for progressive media
makers to get involved with their audience in exciting new ways.
Film language has developed an enormous amount of local dialects.
Videoblogs, interactive movies and digital theme channels have
multiplied the ways in which the moving image is delivered and
experienced. We don't watch TV anymore, we cut-and-paste our way
through the dense media landscape around us.
That's why Mediamatic collaborates with Synch Festival on organising
the Interactive Film Lab: a 5-day workshop where up to 16 film-, tv-,
radio- and new media producers from Europe get to create an on-/
offline interactive film using their own footage with the ever-
evolving Korsakow System.
| TRAJECTORY |
Starting off with talks and presentations by inspiring current media
makers like Frank Alsema (NL), Peter Greenaway (UK) (to be confirmed)
and Florian Thalhofer (D), participants will subsequently develop
their own project prototype during the next couple of days.
Participants should bring up to 40 minutes max. of their own footage
to the workshop, preferably in Quicktime format. Skilled trainers
will provide technical and theoretical support. On July 6 a selection
of workshop projects will be presented to the Synch festival audience.
| HOW MUCH? |
The costs for participation are € 240 (Incl.VAT) for people from new
EU member states plus Greece and € 360 (Incl.VAT) for people from
other EU member states. This includes lunches, fully equipped Apple
computers and technical assistance. There are some scholarships
available.
