Zwischen
Himmel und Erde
nimmt eine Reise der Filmemacherin Alexandra Reill durch Andalusien und deren
Impressionen aus der dortigen Kultur zum Anlaß, das Wesen von Leid und Schmerz,
die jeden Menschen im Leben treffen, zu untersuchen und ? interpretiert durch
Sound Samples aus Gesängen aus den Zeiten von Alfonso X El Sabio (1221-1284),
Isabella der Katholischen (1453-1504), der Nasrid Dynasite (1410-1563) und aus
der jüdischen Kultur ? zu einem Bildwerk der Vertiefung zu verdichten.
Die
tragisch anmutende Ästhetik der südspanischen Region mit heute noch
ausgeprägtem, dunklem, dramatischem Katholizismus trägt gleichzeitig die Spuren
einer Hochblüte der Kalifen mit ihren Palästen und Moscheen. Weisheit als
Studium; Spuren des multikulturellen Zusammenlebens von maurischen, jüdischen
und katholischen Kulturen. Ein Europlatz als Monument für so zeitgenössische wie
alte Ansprüche imperialer Grösse, Ansprüche, die einer Geschichte und Tradition,
einer Disponierung, einer Haltung entstammen. Schwerer, schwülstiger Barock
folgte gothischer und arabischer Transparenz und Leichtigkeit, mit monumentalem
Gewicht in frühere Denkmäler verschachtelt, als ob ein Kolonialismus jemals
Befindlichkeiten eigener Wurzeln zum Auslöschen bringen könnte. Verlassene
jüdische Viertel, erhalten in musealem Charakter zur Beschauung durch Touristen.
Als ob Leben vergessen ist.
Was bedeutet Leid? Was bedeutet Schmerz in
einem Leben? Blicke auf alltägliche Situationen in den Städten und über dem
Lande Andalusiens. Kleine Momente spielerischer Eindrücke, immer verdoppelt, um
den Blick durch die Dinge hindurch wahren zu können. Das Durchdringen von
Gefühlen irdischer Phänomen, irdischen Lebens, ein Abschied von Lieben und eine
Würdigung an die Liebe. Eine Reise von der Erde in den Himmel und wieder zurück.

Above
the Skies
uses the
framework of Alexandra Reill's journey through Andalusia and her impressions of
the region and culture to research the character of suffering and pain
experienced by any human being in life and to interpret a real visual world
according to the inner perception and interpretation of the phenomenon.
Sound
samples of the middle ages contribute to itensify this collage of visual
impressions and transform it into an oeuvre of immersion of feelings and
thoughts. The aesthetic worlds of Andalusia with its dark, dramatic, tragic feel
of catholicism bear at the same time the traces of the heyday of the caliphs
with all their palaces and mosques. Wisdom as search - traces of a multicultural
life composed of maurean, jewish and catholic impact. A Europe Square as a
monument marking actual and former claims to imperial greatness - claims coming
from a history and traditions, from dispositions, from attitudes. Ponderous
baroque followed gothic and arabic transparency and lightness. it was built into
elder monuments as if colonialism ever managed to erase traits of roots of
origin. Abandoned Jewish quarters carrying museal character to be looked at by
tourists.
What does suffering mean? What does pain to life? Views on daily life-situations in the cities and the country of Andalusia. Small moments of playful impressions, doubled, continuously doubled to maintain a glance through things. The pervasion of feelings of mundane phenomenae, of mundane life, a good bye from beloved ones and an hommage to love. A journey from the earth to heaven and back.

Walking
in Footage
ist ein experimenteller Kurzfilm, der mit Found Footage arbeitet. Produziert auf
einer Umatic Engine in Kombination mit einem Videomixer, arbeitet der Film mit
Mixes wie Bild- und Tonstörungen, die spezifisch für Filmmaterial sind. Im
digitalen Bearbeitungsprozess wurde dem Material die Farbe entzogen, um den
Fokus noch deutlicher auf die gehenden, sitzenden und laufenden Menschen lenken
zu können, die von medialen Turbulenzen gestört werden. Walking
in Footage
erzählt von der Suche nach Glücklichkeit in einem Informationszeitalter, in dem
Langsamkeit und Einfachheit nicht selten gegen die Konsequenzen von Data
Overflow verteidigt werden müssen und in dem, eingebettet in einem Überfluß an
Daten, es oft schwierig ist, stille Befindlichkeiten
herzustellen.

Walking
in Footage is an experimental short film
working with found footage. the film is produced by using an old umatic engine
and its specific methods of film editing. in addition, a video mixer was used to
produce and shape mixes coming from visual and sound material disturbances
specific for film material. in the course of digital editing all color was
extracted to be able to even more focus on humans sitting, walking, running
through media noise, feeling disturbed by turbulences. Walking
in Footage is a film on the search for
happiness in the information age where much too often slowliness and simplicity
find themselves in a defensive position in regard to the consequences of data
overflow and where much too often it is difficult to create silence within an
abundance of data.
