DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬Â¬ The Center for Arts Education (CAE) seeks a versatile information technology generalist to fill the position of Director of Technology. A member of CAE’s senior staff and leadership team, he/she will play a key role in guiding the future of CAE. CAE seeks an individual who can lead and supervise a wide variety of technology initiatives in an efficient and cost-effective manner. CAE is looking for a staff member to lead the organization in using technology to advance an aggressive programmatic agenda. Primary responsibilities include: • Managing CAE’s multiple-enterprise information technology systems, which include internal administrative systems as well as two web sites • Leading the development and implementation of the next generation web site that supports a wide range of new approaches in public engagement, advocacy, constituency building, and dissemination of research and policy information • Supervising organization-wide technology-related budgeting and expense control • Working with fellow CAE board and staff members to develop, implement, and maintain a strategic plan for the CAE’S technology operations • Ensuring that technological operations are meeting the program and administrative needs of CAE staff and constituents, and serving as source of ideas for new initiatives • Providing hands-on services in IT operations, including, as appropriate, coding, configuration, maintenance, and security supervision. • Providing hands-on tech support for CAE staff, including maintaining equipment, setting up email accounts, and troubleshooting software and hardware problems • Prioritizing needs among the departments and various projects of the CAE • Supervising outside contractors, including web design firms, IT firms, etc.
• Broad knowledge of information technology standards and practice across a variety of platforms, including Windows 2003 Server, MS Exchange Server and Mac OSX • Deep knowledge of the full range of internet technologies, including JS, CSS, rich media and database application servers (ASP, Lasso or ColdFusion) • Significant experience with database design and maintenance, including work with SQL Server, Access, and Raiser’s Edge • Ability to work successfully and communicate well with non-technical staff • Willingness to work within a non-profit organizational environment and an interest in realizing the mission of The Center for Arts Education • Some knowledge of K-12 arts education is preferable This position reports to the Executive Director.
