sort where the satirist "puts on" their own audience.

Jonathan Swift and Alexander Pope come to mind . . . as does Marshall McLuhan 
. . . not to mention Bob Dobbs. <g>

Remember it was McLuhan who quipped (while stage-side at some Toronto 
topless-bar), "The stripper isn't taking her clothes off . . . she's putting 
her audience on."
