http://z.parsons.edu/~ludin/final_pages "i-drunners: re_flesh the body" Mistresses of Technology: Diane Ludin_efemera OS Agnese Trocchi_discordia OS Francesca Da Rimini_liquid nation OS Julietta Aranda_videomix & camera generator Chun Chi Wang_3d generator Young Song_music generator Andrea Mayr_ascii generator Presented at Rhizome OpenMouse™ at FUN. Thursday, September 28, 2000 10-11 PM at FUN - 130 Madison Street (under the Manhattan Bridge.) 212-964-0303 We will be performing a live mix of our lo-fi avatars: Ephemera, Discordia, and Liquid Nation. Part of their unfolding drama belongs to connections we draw together between ourselves that illustrate a bloated, informatic world drowning in electricity and telecommunication technologies. We will generate an environment which straddles 'the real' and 'the artificial' through text, audio, video and computer generated imagery. We focus on the ways in which various media/informatic/industrial realms are dominantly female. We generate 'flesh' with sound, voice, visuals, skin, stories, dreams, & scenes - rendering alternatives to the 'realities' we are barraged with by large industries of advertising and entertainment complexes. i-drunners and the mistresses of technology are presented by Franklin Furnace <http://www.franklinfurnace.org> as part of its series THE FUTURE OF THE PRESENT 2000, hosted by Parsons School of Design, Digital Design Department, and the Netart Initiative <http://netart-init.org>, a loosely knit, open source based, hub styled, forum oriented, action enabled consortium, where people meet, virtually and bodily, to communicate, exchange, and discourse for advancing the understanding of a vitual art, a networked art and an art that is pervasive and ubquitous in the ] years to come. THE FUTURE OF THE PRESENT 2000 is made possible by the faith and foresight of Jerome Foundation, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Inc., the Heathcote Art Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts' Technology Initiative, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and The Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science, and Technology.
