Incorrect. Zionism has a lengthy intellectual history that predated Herzl's belated ideological re-elaboration by a couple centuries. The above is the usual tired Eurocentric version that excludes Mizrachi popular and literary thought, implicitly positing that only what happens in Europe is 'serious' history. It's a Fodor's Guide version of intellectual history, and neither accurate nor serious. In a sense, possibly this error reiterates some problematic aspects of Internet culture discussions that privilege Euro-American culture as central and dominant.
