LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Queen Elizabeth has banned royal servants from carrying mobile phones because their constant ringing drives her mad, the top-selling Sun tabloid reported on Monday. The queen issued the command after a series of family meals and formal dinners were interrupted by the ringing of mobile phones, some programmed with tunes from popular television programs, the paper said. "It is fair to say the queen was not amused when the phones started ringing incessantly," an unnamed Buckingham Palace source was quoted as saying. The ban applies to all staff at the royal residences of Buckingham Palace in London, Sandringham in eastern England and Balmoral in Scotland. The Sun quoted Buckingham Palace officials as saying that written guidelines, based on common sense and good manners, had been given to staff. Pay phones are available at the palaces for staff who need to make personal phone calls, the officials said. _______________________________________________ Nettime-bold mailing list Nettime-bold@nettime.org http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-bold
