SIGNUM ANNOUNCEMENTS, MAY 1, 2001: * new URL * new publication schedule * new Contributing Editor * new Freezone Curator * participate in 'Zines panel * new issue * congrats to Pighed Signum -- the same folks who brought you "What Ever Happened to the Cyber Revolution?" -- have announced some changes this spring. Signum is a webzine and print anthology project covering culture, independent music/arts/media, the mind, and other stuff we think is neat (like alternatives to megacorporate consumer culture). The online 'zine now appears monthly at www.signumpress.com, and adds two new editors. Editrix Tiffany Lee Brown will also appear on the online Inkwell Conference panel on 'zines, May 4-18, with Heath Row, Mark Frauenfelder, and others. Signum has brought on a new Contributing Editor, Daev 'the Reverend Hellshaw' Walsh, a Signumial friend since the days of the Fringe Ware list. Daev is known for skeptically hunting lake monsters on the Discovery Channel & BBC, writing for the Fortean Times, and investigating the paranormal in Ireland, as captured in BLATHER (www.blather.net). Amy Jarrell is the new Curator for Freezone, an online gallery featuring artist profiles and digital/digitized artworks, along with original fiction, poetry, travelogues, and animation. Jarrell is a photographer and illustrator whose cool, bloglike diary MANGLE DOLL lives at mangledoll.diaryland.com. A publicly-accessible online Inkwell Conference panel about 'zines & weblogs will happen May 4-18 at The Well. Participants include Tiffany Lee Brown (Signum, Hot Geeks!, Fringe Ware Review), Mark Frauenfelder (bOING bOING), Jerod Pore (Burning Knives, Poppin' Zits), Heath Row (No Drama, Karma Lapel, Media Diet, Zine World, Adhocracy), Gareth Branwyn (Going Gaga, bOING bOING, _Jamming the Media_), and Jon Lebkowsky (Unshaved Truths, Fringe Ware Review). Hit www.well.com/conf/inkwell.vue/ to check it out. Signum's May Day issue features an exploration of the human memory by Daev Walsh, an investigator of the paranormal... Brad Brace's 12hr-ISBN-JPEG Project... Posthuman Politics with Bill Cummings... MJ Rose's online Paradise for book lovers... and a dive into the beautifully fringe, completely independent ambient music label Hypnos. Yep, it's all at www.signumpress.com. PS: Signum offers congrats to contributor Pighed (a.k.a. Mark Meadows) for his Webby Award nomination. ## Contact: Tiffany Lee Brown magdalen@magdalen.com http://www.signumpress.com Send Review Materials to: Signum 3439 NE Sandy Blvd #513 Portland, OR 97232 _______________________________________________ Nettime-bold mailing list Nettime-bold@nettime.org http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-bold
