[Nettime-bold] 2002 Whitney Biennial Net Art - Panel this friday |
2002 Whitney Biennial Net Art Friday, March 8, 7-9 PM Tishman Auditorium 66 W 12th St. Live Webcast @ http://netart-init.org A panel featuring artists included in the net art section of the Whitney Biennial. Participants in the panel will be the net artists whose work is presented as part of the 2002 Whitney Biennial. Panelists will give a short presentation of their respective work, followed by a moderated discussion amongst the artists and with the audience. The discussion will be moderated by Christiane Paul, Adjunct Curator of New Media Arts at the Whitney Museum and responsible for the Biennial net art selection. The selection of Internet-based art for the 2002 Biennial strives to give an impression of the variety of forms that net art can take and of the multiple themes that have emerged over the years. Among these themes are data visualization and mapping, database aesthetics, gaming paradigms, agent technology, community as well as nomadic devices--all of which surface in the art works included in the 2002 Biennial selection and will be further explored in the panel discussion. This event is a collaboration between the Whitney Museum and the "Netart Initiative," of which the MFA Design and Technology Program of the Parsons School of Design is a founding member. Sponsored by the Center for New Design at the Parsons School of Design. The Biennial 2002 Net-based art installation is sponsored by France Telecom North America. _______________________________________________ Nettime-bold mailing list Nettime-bold@nettime.org http://amsterdam.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-bold
