The Best Cookbook Ever?
I'm so excited! We have a program called MasterCook Deluxe and it is probably the BEST cookbook software I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot)!
First off, it has 15 cookbooks that have a combined total of over 4,000 recipes! So, yes you;re sure to find just the right idea for a meal :-)
Of course, with 4,000 recipes, you'll need a good way to find what you're looking for. Well, the search engine in this thing is fantastic. You can even search based on what you want - or don't want in a recipe. Great for those who are on a strict diet or who are sensitive to certain foods.
My favorite part? The nutritional calculator. I've been trying to lose some weight and this program makes it easy. Just click the Nutritional Analysis button and you'll get a screen full of info. For example, I was looking at the Candy Cane Coffee Cakes (some dieter huh?) and found that a serving has 260 calories, 28% of which are from fat, 65% from carbohydrates, and 7% from protein. In addition, it also gives you the percentage of daily values per serving. From what I can tell, it would take a LOT of coffee cake to get my daily requirement of vitamins.
It also lets you put your favorite recipes into a "favorites" section, has an awesome glossary of cooking terms, includes fantastic "how to" type videos, has an incredible meal planner, can print out shopping lists, and can even scale recipes so you make exactly the amount you need. Heck, you can even add YOUR recipes to it!
Whew, that's the highlight show, but it barely scratches the surface of what this program can do. The price? It's only $14.97 and US Shipping is FREE! (retail is $29.95) Again, this is easily the best CD ROM cookbook I've ever seen and I can't recommend it highly enough! Here's the link - go there now!

MS
Office 101
Did
you know
that you can
turn off a bulleted or numbered list with just one key?
No?
Well, you can.
Want to know how?
Yes?
Goodbecause
I was going to cover that anyway.
The next time you
get to the end of your list hit the Enter key.
You should get another
bullet or number.
The exact thing you're
trying to avoidI know, I know. Hold on, we're almost there!
Now hit the Backspace
key.
Poof!
The bullet or number
is gone and you're returned to the left margin to pick up the work right
where you left off.
No messing with the
mouse required!
Office
Tip of the Day
Give
Me A Break!
Have you ever had
a bulleted or numbered list in either MS Word or PowerPoint that really
needed a blank line, for a visual break, partway through?
Maybe your list contains
subsets and would just make more sense if there was a break in the flow.
Maybe something like
this?
Or maybe this?
1. Item A
2. Item B
3. Item C
4. Item D
5. Item E
What did you do to
create the break?
Did you turn the bullets
or numbering off - make the blank line, then go back and turn them on
again?
And if it's a numbered
list, did you go through the headache of getting the numbers to be continuous?
I knowone great
big pain!
I couldn't agree more.
Guess what!
What? (Thanks for
playing along there
)
There's a faster way.
Yepyou read
it righta faster way.
All you need is an
extra key: the Shift key to be exact.
Here's the scoop.
(No, not vanilla and strawberrydon't we all wish.)
- Next time you're
working on a list and you want a blank line try Shift + Enter.
- This should put
you on the next line - without the number or bullet.
- Now hit the Enter
key again.
- You should now
be another line down with the bullets back onor in case of the
numbers, they continue counting exactly where they left off.
It's that easy!
Way faster than all
the hoops we jump through to turn this stuff on / off / on / off again.
Give it a tryit's
as easy as pie! (With or without the scoop.)
