Nina Wakeford   is a sociologist who has a particular interest in
technology and innovative   ethnographic techniques. Sarah Kember's work is
concerned with the new biology, genetics, artificial life and evolutionary
psychology

   What impact will new technology have on the lives,   bodies and social
networks of women? The discussion will focus on new   technologies such as
genomics and the   changing definition of Artificial Life and its
manifestation in art, language,   literature, commerce and entertainment.
Wakeford   and Kember will look at the evolution of Artificial   Life from
cloning to computer games, incorporating an analysis of hardware,

They will discuss how technology can deliver unforeseen outcomes and
challenges and what strategies women may adopt in response.
