A large number of folks in Florida will be wearing ski masks on December 24th to protest the face recognition systems there. Additionally, there will be the shootback effort, in which Global Accountability Theatre will, once again, take aim at the surveillance cameras. It would be great to have the Surveillance Camera Players act out a play/theatre entitled "ShootingBack" on December 24th. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - From: mann@eecg.toronto.edu Subject: International Day of Protest Against Video Surveillance, December 24th Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 03:45:58 -0400 World Subjectrights Day (also known as Global Accountability Day, or Global Accountability Theatre) is described in http://wearcam.org/wsd.htm - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - From: mann@eecg.toronto.edu Subject: International day of protest against video surveillance: December 24th Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 04:09:36 -0400 A number of sites such as the U.K. site for the international day of protest against video surveillance http://www.spy.org.uk/shootback.htm have been participating since 1998, and various other sites are popping up around the world (Florida is going to be a big participant this year with all the face recognition talk there). Perhaps sites in Arizona, Bologna, Lithuania, etc., would help the effort. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: majordomo@bbs.thing.net and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@bbs.thing.net
