This is the reason why there are "traditional exceptions" of copyright,
see the WIPO treaties. Thats private copying. You find that in the EG
directive too. But the regulation technic is funny, EU hopes that industry
will offer technics that allow private copying. Has anybody ever seen such
a beast?


I wouldnt put DMCA and the directive into the same basket. WIPO decided
that DRM, if it ever comes, finds the necessary legal framework. But it
didnt decide more. DRM etc according to WIPO are just an option. The
directive tries to improve that option. There are still the famed
exceptions. CDs, TV.

DMCA seems to be something else. At least, it looks different. The world
according to the DMCA.

Its a lot about regulation technics and facts, for example the fact,
there there are allready a lot of copy protected cds in the shops.

What is to do, do we have to wait for the industry and the mentioned
beast?
