A brief _href_ to appraise you of political developments over the last
couple of days in Italy: this piece on Metamute analyses the recently released
Pisanu parliamentary report on 'Internal and International Terrorism',
linking groups of the social movement - in particular the Disobedienti - to
terrorism.

The category of 'Diffuse Political Illegality' set up by the report bares
particular attention. The Italian executive is on one hand writing itself a
mandate to decide who does and does not fall within the so-called
'network of terror': now, activists and dissenters are 'internal
terrorists'. On the other, it is removing the traditional power of the
judiciary to check its excesses. This is a formula that we will
doubtless see repeated across Europe in the 'long haul' of the WoT.

(This article also links to a commissioned translation of the
Disobedienti's reponse to the Pisanu report.)
