RE: <nettime> While Californians vote... Arnold Unplugged (Greg Palast) |

But Arnold was too busy shaving off his Hitlerian > mustache to respond. I'm a Californian and not particularly happy about the victory of the Grope-inator. But Palast ruined an otherwise interesting piece of investigative journalism with this ridiculous ending. Any cursory look at Schwarzenegger's record in this regard would show that no "Nazi" allegations are likely to stick. So what happens when Jane Voter reads this story? Maybe she rejects it out of hand, because of the sensationalistic tone. Or maybe she reads the whole piece and is ready to believe it until that last line, then, knowing the Hitlerian implication to be untrue, infers that the remainder of the article is untrue as well. Besides, Arnold's silence on this issue was anything but strange, given his silence on just about every other specific issue. -- Curt Hagenlocher curth@motek.com # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: majordomo@bbs.thing.net and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@bbs.thing.net
