<nettime> If you want to go home... |
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,1282,-4226605,00.html Here is an idea for any US soldier in Iraq who wants to go home, but is prevented from doing so by the Pentagon's "stop-loss'' authority to keep soldiers from retiring or otherwise leaving if they are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan: use another of the Army's clever slogans: "don't ask, don't tell". Fight the "stop loss" with the "don't ask, don't tell": if they want to STOP you, you just TELL them. Tell them what? Tell them you are GAY. That works. DoD does not want gays in the military: they discharge hundreds, thousands of them every year. In a recent episode of South Park, a group of Midwest rednecks, whose town was invaded by the people from the future, decided to become gay, reasoning that if they were gay, they were not going to have children, and there would be no people from the future. They all took their clothes off and started making out with each other, piling up like they are in Abu Ghraib. That would sure end the "stop loss". ivo # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: majordomo@bbs.thing.net and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@bbs.thing.net
