Re: <nettime> Enduring Messaging: are microcommunications an art form? Tom Sherman, 2008 |
Hi Tom, It is an interesting discussion to delve into the concept of art as messaging. At a surface level, I suppose qualifying images and objects as messages and contextually contrasting them to, say for instance, SMS texting, is a becoming relegated towards not so much as what is involved in terms of the embedded content, but who is involved in terms of endpoints. In a network, there are three difference types of messages, with a fourth being a subdivision of the other; unicast - one to one broadcast - one to all multicast - one to whoever elects to recieve anycast - anyone who elects to send to anyone to elects to recieve /*Chad Scoville /*Informationalist, Visualist, Engineer, and Lover of Dyson Spheres /*mobiltelefon - 718(dot)873(dot)6205 /*http://ad3pt(dot)tumblr(dot)com /* TWITTER ME >> ad3ptnanosec # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: http://mail.kein.org/mailman/listinfo/nettime-l # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@kein.org
