Help is on the way.
While the real cause of the coming real war is to fix the economy, there is a convenient and liberating side effect: flattening of life expectancy distribution. Everyone will be (realistically) looking at few more years to live. Democracy at its finest. You'll feel young again. Or they'll feel old. Whichever.
