The evilness is not just proposed but real: a tightly structured political oligarchy distributing the profits of a highly repressive state. The point of the opposition is not to be angels but to resist, to get back into power and to make a better future. Soros is the liberal answer to the Kochs, for sure. Like them, he spends private money in ways that seek to change society. In a better world (one without such huge concentrations of wealth) we would do without such people. But today it's war, and in war you need allies. There is no doubt that the "open society" is a more positive horizon for social development than the updated fascism of the Orban clique, or the libertarian fascism which is now resetting the agendas of the American right-wing billionaires. # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: http://mx.kein.org/mailman/listinfo/nettime-l # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@kein.org # @nettime_bot tweets mail w/ sender unless #ANON is in Subject:
