THE VOICES OF NETTIME To sell or not to sell(out): creating value in the info economy a collaborative document for Para-Chute, Canada * context: At MF3,in Budapest, one of the main topics was if 'content' means 'commodification' and how we could conceptualize the rapid transition into a globalized info-economy in order to resist AND survive it. Especially what it means to the self-definition of alternative, independent, critical or whatever-you-call-it cultural practise on the net. Of all the changes on the internet in 1996, the most obvious is 'commercialisation'. What does it mean to your wishes and plans in the context of our 'gift-production' on this channel? There are many alternative models: the paysant market, the digital loom, the info-anarchist, the pirate utopia, the para.site, market as nature, virtual marxism, digital trade unions, tactiques of inversion, networks of trust, digital cities...
