<nettime> Swatch spams HAM: 'free' frequencies get eaten

The Russian Space Agency has incurred the wrath and ire of
amateur radio operators world wide by having contracted with
the Swiss watch company "Swatch" to deploy a small French
built satellite which will transmit advertising and messages
sent in from Swatch website users.

The satellite will transmit a narrow band FM signal in the
145.80 MHz - 146.00 MHz portion of the two meter amateur
(HAM radio) band. This is in apparent violation of
International Telecommunications Union treaty and U.S. FCC
