<nettime> collectivity of suffering

Collective guilt should not be a taboo, I believe: Milosevic with his
policies enjoyed the support of the majority of his electorate for quite a
while - not entirely unlike Hitler did. However, I think that collective guilt
does not end at Serbs today in the era of sattelite mass-
telecommunications: we ALL new what’s happening and we ALL chose
to do nothing for a very long time but sit back in our living rooms and
watch corpse pile up. How much ashamed should American feel
supporting a row of polls watching, spin-doctored governments that said
Milosevic one thing, Tudjman another, Izetebegovic the third and Thaci
something entirely different? Therefore, collective punishment makes
little sense: this is a lesson, we must learn to ovcercome such situations
in the future together as humanity. Obviously, planners and executors
should be captured and punished. Actually, why is nobody doing this
right now? So, that we can all get back to life without being ashamed of
ourselves.
