las dos culturas: el net.art

un ciclo de conferencias y presentaciones de obras internéticas
dirigido por nilo casares
coordinado por pau córdoba
con la asistencia técnica de lele luchetti

en la ya pasada década de los cincuenta, charles percy snow publica 
el esclarecedor libro "las dos culturas y un segundo enfoque" donde 
investiga la ausencia de relaciones entre las culturas científica y 
humanística, con el grave añadido de asociar la posesión de cultura 
sólo con el bagaje humanístico, no entrando nunca a considerar las 
lagunas científicas como carencias de cultura general.
hoy esto parece superado, pues reconocemos que la ciencia también es 
cultura, sin embargo la distancia entre los dos mundos sigue patente 
ya que sólo en muy contados círculos se aboga por la reunión de estas 
dos culturas como lo habían estado en el renacimiento, y, aún peor, 
con el vigor que hoy posee la tecnología, algo impensable a mediados 
del siglo pasado, el orgullo de los técnicos y científicos les lleva 
a ignorar los parámetros humanísticos, como antes se ignoraba el 
marco científico desde la cultura humanística.
para indagar en qué punto de encuentro entre las dos culturas nos 
encontramos se presenta este ciclo que quiere abrirnos el mundo de un 
arte que brota desde el núcleo mismo de la ciencia en su facción 
tecnológica, hoy que para todo estamos digitalizados y sometidos a la 
más férrea tecnología: el net.art.
saber en definitiva si seguimos viviendo de espaldas las dos culturas.
como tampoco el net.art es un género bien conocido del arte 
contemporáneo contaremos también con la explicación de algunos 
net.artistas que nos ilustren sobre sus obras.

with the technical attendance of lele luchetti

in the past fifties, charles percy snow publishes the emblematic book 
"the two cultures and a second look an expanded version of the two 
cultures and the scientific revolution", where he investigates the 
absence of relationship between the scientific and the humanistic 
cultures, with the serious inconvenience to associate the possession 
of culture with the humanistic baggage, never entering to consider 
the scientific gaps as deficiencies of general culture today this 
seems surpassed, because we recognize that science also is culture, 
nevertheless the distance between both worlds doesn't change, as only 
in very few circles the meeting of these two cultures is supported, 
as it happened in the renaissance, and even worse, with the strength 
that has today the technology, unthinkable in the middle of the last 
century, the pride of the technicians and scientists bring them to 
ignore the humanistic parameters, like, before, the scientific frame 
were ignored from the humanistic culture.
to investigate in what point of encounter, between the two cultures, 
we are, we present this cycle that wants to open us the world of an 
art that appears from the same nucleus of science in its 
technological face, today, when everything is digitalized and put 
under the most hard technology: net.art.
to know really if we go on living through the concept of the two 
cultures as net.art is not either a well known genre in the 
contemporary art we will count also on the explanation of some 
net.artists that will illustrate their works.
