[Nettime-nl] Workshop April 18th - Music and Gesture: Sensors, hardware and software interfaces |
Music and Gesture: Sensors, hardware and software interfaces Thursday April 18th 2002, 11.00 - 17.00 Guest Lecturer: Andrei Smirnov (RU) Andrei Smirnov is the Director of the Moscow Theremin Center and a designer and developer of both hardware and software sensor technology, with a particular interest in developing complex relationships between the performer\'s actions and the interpreting of this information in non-linear methods using custom software. This workshop shall focus on designing and programming interfaces to sensors, based on the techniques he has developed for working with live performance, with particular interest on the non-linear methods of parameter control and interpretation. Technologies include: MAX/MSP, custom-designed motion sensors. Topics include artificial intelligence, non-linear gesture analysis and processing. Entry to this course is free, however registration is required. To participate in the workshop please register via the STEIM website: http://www.steim.nl/workshops Andrei will be performing on Tuesday 16th utilising various forms of the technology to be discussed.
