FLESHING OUT Wearable Interfaces, Smart Materials, Living Fabrics



V2_, Instituut voor de Instabiele Media uit Rotterdam en Virtueel Platform uit Amsterdam organiseren een tweedaags evenement over technologie die dicht op de huid zit.
Recente ontwikkelingen in de wetenschap, zoals DNA en stamcel onderzoek, weefselkweek, slimme materialen en draagbare technologie, hebben een grote invloed op de perceptie van materialen en kleding in de ontwerppraktijk.   


Seminar
De meest toonaangevende en kritische initiatieven op het gebied van draagbare technologieën en slimme materialen worden gepresenteerd aan een breed publiek van kunstenaars, ontwerpers, wetenschappers en studenten uit verschillende disciplines.
Het seminar vindt plaats in V2_ te Rotterdam op donderdag 9 november.

Workshop
Een aantal sprekers van het seminar en verschillende Nederlandse experts ontmoeten elkaar in klein comité. Zij analyseren best practices in het interdisciplinaire veld van draagbare technologie, werken scenario’s uit en onderzoeken de mogelijkheden om projecten op te zetten in
Nederland.
De VP workshop op vrijdag 10 november zal plaatsvinden bij het Pakhuis de Zwijger te Amsterdam.
De workshop is  invitation   only .  Er zijn een beperkt aantal open plaatsen beschikbaar.

V2_, Institute for the Unstable Media, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam-based Virtueel Platform, the expertise centre for E-Culture, are organising a two-day event on the theme of close-to-the-skin technology.
Recent developments in science, including DNA and stem cell research, tissue culturing, smart materials and wearable technology, have a growing impact on how we perceive materials and clothing in design practice.   


Seminar
This seminar brings together leading and critical initiatives in the field of wearable technology and smart materials and presents them to a broad audience of artists, designers, scientists and students from a variety of disciplines. 
The seminar takes place on Thursday 9th of Novemberat V2_ in Rotterdam.

Workshop
The workshop provides a more intimate setting for a selected group of speakers from the seminar and several invited Dutch experts. They come together in this workshop to analyse best practices in the interdisciplinary field of wearable technology, come up with scenarios, and research the
possibilities of setting up new innovative projects in the Netherlands.
The workshop will be held on Friday 10th of November at the Zwijger in Amsterdam. 
The Fleshing Out workshop is by invitation only. However there are some open seats availeble
