we invite you to the next session of the research seminar "Focus on
Internet", led by Milton Mueller, XS4ALL Chair at the Faculty of
Technology, Policy and Management at TU Delft. Please feel free to also

The theme for this session is
"Past, Present and Future of the End-to-End Principle"

Jos Vrancken, assistant professor at the Faculty for Technology, Policy
and Management at TU Delft, will illustrate how technical and
organizational / institutional / economic issues are intricately related
in the Internet infrastructure.

His presentation will provide a definition of "End-to-End (E2E)" and
explain its origins and rationale in the IP approach to networking as  
well
as its current status in the context of various internet developments.
Special aspects here are the growth of the Internet in size and in
diversity, growing security problems, the cumbersome transition to IPv6,
and the shift of power from the traditional infrastructure organizations
towards the end-users. Finally, the future of E2E and the IP networking
architecture will be addressed.

Others involved in similar areas are invited to also discuss their work
and bring their ideas, either on the substance and politics of the  
issue,
or on research methodologies and theoretical approaches.

After the seminar, there will be an opportunity to have dinner togeter  
in
the pittoresque town of Delft. If you are interested in this, please
