His presentation will provide a definition of "End-to-End (E2E)" and explain its origins and rationale in the IP approach to networking as well as its current status in the context of various internet developments. Special aspects here are the growth of the Internet in size and in diversity, growing security problems, the cumbersome transition to IPv6, and the shift of power from the traditional infrastructure organizations towards the end-users. Finally, the future of E2E and the IP networking architecture will be addressed. Others involved in similar areas are invited to also discuss their work and bring their ideas, either on the substance and politics of the issue, or on research methodologies and theoretical approaches. After the seminar, there will be an opportunity to have dinner togeter in the pittoresque town of Delft.
