The Art Pollution Kit is a project geared at providing easy access to
environmental data by using Arduino open source acquisition boards and
specialized environmental sensors. Arists Michal Kindernay and Gívan
Belá experiment with perceptual ideas about sound and visual pollution
(using noisiness, speed of movement/change, and spectral spread).
Currently they are working with humidity and temperature and working
towards including readings of air quality, ozone, pressure, and
windspeed. With The Art Pollution Kit, they work on algorithmic
experiments with image and sound degradation, driven by the sensors,
cameras and microphones. Over the coming months several new features
will be added. Everyone interested is invited to join in to expand the
initial setup as well as to develop data visualisations. The extended
plan is to share the data expressions across geographic distances.

Michal and Gívan Belá are currently working in OKNO. They will perform a
short garden piece with their Art Pollution Kit on June 30th at 7pm.

De Art Pollution Kit is een ecologisch instrument in ontwikkeling. Via
de open source sensorboard Arduino worden omgevingsdata gebruikt voor
sonificatie en visualisatie. Voordien werkten Michal Kindernay en Gívan
Belá reeds met camera en microfoon om een perceptieve weergave van
visuele en klankpollutie te evokeren. Momenteel werken ze met en
temperatuur en vochtigheid. Misschien wind snelheid. hun setup laat het
toe metingen van luchtkwaliteit en ozon toe te voegen. Ze werken beiden
aan algorithmische synthese voor de degradatie van klank en beeld. De
bedoeling is de sensoren ter beschikking te stellen van geinteresseerde
kunstenaars die de gegevens publiek maken, en op die manier een gebied
kunnen bestrijken. Nieuwe visualisaties/sonificaties worden ook daarvoor
ontwikkeld.

Michal Kindernay en Gívan Belá werken op dit moment in OKNO en brengen
met de Art Pollution Kit een Jardin Compositie op 30 juni om 19.00u.

The Art Pollution Kit est un instrument écologique en développement.
L'objectif est d'utiliser dans des installation vidéo ou sonore, des
données environnementales acquises grâce à divers capteurs connectés à
la plateforme open source Arduino. Michal Kindernay et Giva Bela
mesurent la pollution sonore grâce à un microphone -- ils sont en train
d'ajouter des capteurs d'humidité et de température -- puis exploitent
ces données pour dégrader une image vidéo.

Michal and Gívan Belá travaillent actuellement à OKNO. Ils feront une
courte performance avec leur Art Pollution Kit le 30 juin à 19 heures.
