[Nettime-nl] Invitation to the launch of PhDO |
Invitation to the launch of PhDO: A NEW PLATFORM FOR RESEARCH IN THE CREATIVE SECTOR PhDO is an initiative of Waag Society and Arne Hendriks. Founding partners are Waag Society, NWO and IIP Create. You are kindly invited to join the launch of PhDO! PHDO Launch! Friday March 25, venue open: 15.30 hrs / starts 16.00 to 18.00 hrs De Waag in Amsterdam, Nieuwmarkt 4 Drinks afterwards RSVP: via LinkedIn http://events.linkedin.com/PhDO-Launch/pub/593739 During this first gathering researcher Michiel de Lange together with his promoter Valerie Frissen and artist Jennifer Kanary present their PhD research. They will then elaborate on practical matters like ideation, finding a department and a professor, writing a proposal and financing. Mark Kas, NWO, will explain the new PRINCE programme that will give a few talented individuals from the Creative Sector a means to obtain a PhD. Many creators, designers, artists and decision makers in the creative sector feel the desire to add in-depth knowledge and tools to their professional experience. Linking practical, hands on knowledge to scientific research is of great importance to improve the quality and impact of creative work. However, in practice there are many hurdles between the desire and itâs actual implementation. PhDO will address these and connect people with the same ambitions with people who are doing it. PhDO consists of networking events: both for individuals in the creative sector, and for people working in research and development. The network aims to develop realistic insights in the process of preparing, applying, setting up & carrying out research in the Creative Sector. At the same time, it will provide a new podium to present research results to a relevant audience. ______________________________________________________ * Verspreid via nettime-nl.
