[Nettime-nl] THE DUTCH ORANGE CRAZE: Synthetic Monarchy

SYNTHETIC MONARCHY a picture to better explain the Dutch Orange Craze, whereby the State Television (NOS) spends three quarter of their time to royalty non-sense, like an item on how to sign your support for the the new king "Met drie vingers in de lucht maak je de W van Willem-Alexander" (with three fingers in the air you make the W of Willem-Alexander). Royal Heineken Breweries are the main force behind it all and they are prepared for the event whereby half the nation will drink away its perpetual economic crisis frustration (Heineken smartly did raise the beer price a few weeks ago).

--------
SYNTHETIC (as in "compound") n. : a compound made artificially by chemical reactions

THE "THREE FINGERS IN THE AIR/SKY" text line (De W van Willem drie vingers in de lucht) also appears in the official Kings's song that will be performed on the inauguration day April the 30th during a concert for the new King. A part of the song performed by a few Dutch rappers, that hereby burry any radical and insubordinate association one could have with rap: "Ali B., Lange Frans and some name I did forgot. The song for which every one could send in text suggestions over the internet, is a mishmash and mishap of the first order, and it's creative qualities were criticised on social media to such an extant that the composer of it withdrew the song in an official statement. As the whole thing had been planned and the Royal Crowning Committee had no alternative, it will be performed nevertheless. A perfect symbolic act showing what monarchy and royal means... the people will dance to the official tune, not the other way around. This should be the song at the point of the 'three fingers in the air, the W of William.... Come on, Come on, Three fingers in the air... (da capo al fine)

THE BEER PRICE RISE OF HEINEKEN is documented in this recent article on the web site of DutchNews.nl; as the 30th of April is the traditional mass public drunkenness day for the last twenty decades, people from all over the country tend to flock to Amsterdam stashed with loads of beer, or can be seen carrying crates full of beer through the streets while joining crowds en enjoying street performances and free market sales. The authorities do fear what this year will bring and have announced all kind of counter measures, like super markets allowed to sell on the day it self only one drink pro customer. It is sure that such measures will be evaded in many ways and a new sport of alcohol control dogging will see the light:

BEER PRICE HIKES BAFFLE CONSUMERS, FACED WITH CHEAP SUPERMARKET DEALS
Thursday 04 April 2013 - The decision by brewing giant Heineken to increase the price of beer in bars and cafes is baffling beer drinkers, according to the head of the Dutch hospitality industry association. While cafe prices rise, supermarkets offer beer at bargain prices, Lodewijk van der Grinten told RTL news. 'Albert Heijn has a stunt price of 12 cans of Heineken for €5.94. That means a discount of 43% and a litre price of €1.50,' Van der Grinten said. 'Cafes have to pay almost 2.5 times as much.'
