Housed in a fully functioning bar in the Dorsoduro district of Venice, the Manchester Pavilion offers to extend and develop the Pavilion model by being: a) fully licensed b) open late c) not having any space taken up with works of art The Manchester Pavilion will also serve ciabatta sandwiches with fresh Parma ham and does a nice house red too. Building on Manchester's international reputation for a lively and distinctive nightlife The Manchester Pavilion will fill an essential role within this year's Biennale by providing somewhere to go after about 10pm in an otherwise early-to-bed Italian town. The Manchester Pavilion is all you want from an art space. Cool, central and free as well as offering some respite for tired eyes (and legs). This initiative has been put together by , Professor Pavel Büchler, Nick Crowe, Kathy Rae Huffamn, Graham Parker and Martin Vincent . It has been supported by North West Arts Board, Cornerhouse, Manchester Metropolitan University and The Annual Programme and forms part of the British Council's contribution to this year's Biennale. It will run for the entirety of the 50th Venice Biennale after which time the pavilion will revert back to its earlier incarnation as Osteria da Codroma.
