Video screenings of the Poetic Video Festival will be presented in Kinogalerija (Jauniela street # 24) September, 15. The Poetic Video Festival is organized by ORBITA - group of mainly young Russian poets and writers, who experiment with spoken text. (www.orbita.lv) Closing event of this festival in one of the nightclubs in Riga will include interjamming by not only poets, but also vjs and musicians. What's behind the concept? Does pure isolated cultural phenomena exist? Editing, mixing and combining of different cultural forms became a universal creative approach long time ago. In this context the idea of carrying out the Poetic Video Festival appeared. While cinematography has been always closer to the literary genre of novel, video art has been created as a "visual poetry", with paradoxicality and laconicism in its expression, that is peculiar to the poetic form. The festival organizers decided to concentrate on this characteristic of video art and collect works, scattered about in time and place, that are created in poetic video genre, combining video and poetic texts, where word and image are interchangeable. Video Collection Jury will select the best festival works to be included in the video collection WORD IN MOTION. This collection (VHS) will be distributed to all participants of the festival, editorial offices of the editions dealing with contemporary art and literature, and organizers of other video festivals and video galleries. All films will be estimated without being nominated. Three winners will be awarded modest prizes of the festival. If you would like to participate?.
