The three mornings have been set aside to discuss the historical and economical constraints of new technologies dealing with image maximization (Wednesday, October 1, 1997), digital development work in this research field (Thursday, October 1, 1997) and lastly production constraints and competitive opportunities for the largest film experience for the senses (Friday, October 3, 1997). Andrei Smirnov will present a programme section that has been dedicated to the work of the Theremin-Centre. Stanislav Kreichi and Vechislav Koleichuk have been working in the surroundings of the Theremin Center and use an ANS-Synthesizer to probe the region between sound and picture movements. TOKYO - Friday, October 3, 1997 The perpetual danger of earthquakes and catastrophes has shaped Tokyo's city planning and the Japanese vision of man and machine relationship. Manga designers, theorists and directors will introduce these aspects of pop culture and discuss the interrelation of traditional drawings and computer and between tradition and innovation, in the shadow of a city, that lives with the knowledge that its high-rise buildings could, from one day to the next, plunge to their depths.
