Syndicate: DATELINE - OCTOBER 3: COMMEMORATING GERMAN UNIFICATION |
late Twilight, October 3, 1997 Dear Syndicalists, and all other non-associated, yet virtually syndical beings... we, the Bauhaus Dessau and the Cultural Information Centre, both of Dessau, are proud to announce, in Commemoration of the Closing of this 7th Day of German Unification, and after many months of intensive labour, the BIRTH of our 3rd child: OSTRANENIE 97 - THE INTERNATIONAL ELECTRONIC MEDIA FORUM NOVEMBER 5 - 9, 1997 weighing in at 63 videos, 22 installations, 12 web projects, 10 perfomances, 1 major Syndicate meeting, as well as numerous lectures, special presentations and the appearance of many more notable figures including (we hope) yourselves! We wish to invite you to the official baptism, taking place on Wednesday, November 5th, 1997 at 18.00 on the stage of the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany and to join us in a round of toasts and introspective entertainment provided by, among others, the Minister President of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and, at 20.00 a special performance - the "Doppelkonzert" - by the Hungarian sound artist Tibor Szemzš. Thereafter, we invite our guests to dinner (and further toasts) at the GRAND OPENING/PREMIERE of NETLounge - the OSTRANENIE exclusive JAVA-CLUB address: for network projects, the PARAHOUSE (a live interactive multi-media environment conceived by the Egon March Institute, Ljubljana), on-line chats, all night video screenings and much more..... The final programme, which will be made available shortly on the soon_to_be_up OSTRANENIE Web Site at WWW.OSTRANENIE.ORG as well as through these Syndicate mailings, includes a wide spectrum of works by members of the electronic arts community covering ca. 30 countries investigating the current ambience of change - be it revolution, stagnation, revolt, euphoria, personal insight, or critical reflection - in the context of the European cultural and artistic transformation process. We sincerely look forward to having you as our guests in Dessau, with best regards on behalf of the ostranenie team, Stephen Kovats (godfather) 100662.2476@compuserve.com ostranenie office <<emi@stiftung-bauhaus.de>> NETLounge <<kiez@misa.uni-magdeburg.de>> tel **49 340 6508 313 fax **49 340 6508 326 www.ostranenie.org (soon...)
