Press Release out of actions John Duncan TAP INTERNAL Concert In the context of the MAK exhibition 'out of actions AKTIONISMUS, BODY ART & PERFORMANCE 1949 - 1979', on view until September 6, the American performance artist John Duncan will perform the concert TAP INTERNAL on September 3rd in the MAK Lecture Hall at 7 p.m. TAP INTERNAL will be presented in complete darkness. Duncan's performances and electronic-acoustical compositions always affect the physical and mental conditions of his audience. He works with hard cuts between meditative and sudden outbursting noise or screaming which intensely reflect the constraints, contingencies, and limits of human existence. Duncan is renowned for his radical performances of the 80's. BLIND DATE (1980), a performance which deals with the conflicts between sexuality and social order, ends with the vasectomy of the artist. One of his last performances, KICK, was presented at the Pathology and Anatomy Museum in Vienna on a seventeenth century dissecting-table. Other important works released on CD are THE CRACKLING, RIVER IN FLAMES and KLAAR. JOHN DUNCAN â?? TAP INTERNAL Date: September 3rd 1998, 7 p.m. Location: MAK-Lecture Hall, MAK â??
