The Assistant Professor salary range begins at $43,100.00 Starting Date: July 1, 1999 Academic requirements: MFA in Studio Art, Digital Multimedia and/or Ph.D., production experience, and university teaching experience are required. Job description: The Studio Art Department seeks an artist working in Digital Multimedia, possessing a broad understanding of both contemporary visual arts and computer technologies. Candidates must be able to participate in the development of digital production facilities, to build a curriculum that is inclusive of both technical training and critical issues, and to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses. The department desires a candidate with experience in collaborating with non-arts disciplines and an interest in the social implications of new technologies. About the Department: The Studio Art Department offers BA and MFA degrees in an interdisciplinary program that emphasizes a critical approach to artistic production. Courses are offered in three curricular areas: Camera/Digital Media (computer imaging, photography, video), Two/Three Dimensional Media (drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, ceramics and performance) and Critical Studies (visual culture, theory and criticism). There are 9 full-time faculty, 18 part-time faculty, 330 undergraduate majors and 15 graduate students. About the School of the Arts: Studio Art is one of four departments in the School of the Arts. Other departments include Dance, Drama and Music. The school has four theaters, scenic and costume shops, video studio, art gallery, Electronic Music Studio, Music Media Center and four digital instructional and research laboratories.
